Anne Nichol-Smith (married name “Nicky” Logan) studied for a Fine Art degree followed by a post-graduate Diploma in the Conservation of Paintings.
Now based near Alnwick in North Northumberland, she specialises in commissioned equestrian and canine portraits. She also produces portraits of children and other subjects.
The majority of her work is in pencil and as she says “With a really sharp pencil you can capture so much detail, I’m fascinated by how the fur lies and the bone structure beneath, plotting the curls of something like a Bedlington Terrier is extremely satisfying”
Nicky’s subjects reflect her Northumberland surroundings. Her commissions are largely of children, horses and all sorts of dogs and have also included cats, prize- winning bulls and rams and even owls and other birds of prey.
Another aspect of her work is House Portraits. As with all her work the picture can be reproduced for personalised post cards, shooting cards and notelets etc.
Her work has recently been featured in The Field Magazine.
Many thanks go to the following and other patrons who have allowed their portraits to be reproduced:
